The range belongs to the basic outfit of every vessel: EPIRBs that start transmitting by themselves the moment they end up in the water, personal PLBs, SART transponders that light up on the radar of a rescue unit, and AIS man overboard beacons.
The equipment is made to do nothing for years and then work perfectly once. When buying, always check the battery date and, with an EPIRB, the registration in the name of the vessel; we state the status with every beacon.
