About Simrad

The Norwegian roots lie in fishing: sonars and echo sounders that showed in detail what was happening below and beside the vessel, at a time when the rest of the world was still making do with a depth sounder. That knowledge of acoustics has always stayed the foundation at Simrad.

Alongside that, Simrad supplies the familiar bridge equipment: plotters and multifunction displays, radars, autopilots and control panels. The operation has deliberately been kept straightforward — a quality you only come to appreciate when it is blowing hard outside and you have to set something with wet hands.

Because the equipment is sailed a great deal and lasts a long time, there is a lively market in used units and separate control panels. For anyone who wants to keep an existing installation on the air, that is often the quickest and cheapest route.
