A Furuno RTR-071 RF unit for the Radio Holland RHRS-2005 river radar, tested and working.
Overview
The RF unit is the transmitting and receiving section inside the scanner — also called the TX/RX unit, mod unit or transceiver, and often referred to simply as the magnetron, although it contains a good deal more than that. When the picture of an RHRS-2005 loses range, goes grainy or fades away altogether, the cause is usually in this unit rather than in the display. Replacing it restores the installation at a fraction of the cost of a new radar.
