Furuno FA-150 Class A AIS Transponder Set — Tested

The Furuno FA-150 is a Class A Universal AIS transponder, sold here as a complete set with the FA-1501 transponder unit and the FA-1502 display unit, tested and confirmed functional.

Overview

The FA-150 exchanges navigation and ship data between your own vessel and other AIS-equipped ships or coastal stations, pairing a transponder unit with a compact 4.5″ monochrome display. Static data such as MMSI, call sign and vessel dimensions is transmitted alongside dynamic data including position, course over ground and speed over ground. The transponder contains a VHF transmitter, two parallel-channel TDMA receivers, a DSC channel 70 receiver and a built-in 12-channel GPS receiver with differential capability, which also serves as a backup position source if an external GPS fails. Interfaces are provided for radar, ECDIS and PC, so target data can be overlaid on the equipment already installed on the bridge.

The FA-150 has reached end-of-life status but remains supported by Furuno, with the FA-170 as its successor. It is still widely used across commercial and inland fleets, which makes a tested set a practical spare or replacement for an existing Furuno AIS installation.
